AT&T Takes the Phone Out of iPhone

Three weeks ago, I received a call from a friend on the iPhone, while in the middle of the desert, had come with mobile phones at Burning Man. However, I had several calls last night to my parents from my home in San Francisco and had a connection has been further blurred.

This happens when I try to talk every day on my first generation iPhone in my apartment and some other districts. I just think that even if I can make a call, it is likely to be short or of poor quality.

Frustrated, interrupted by numerous phone calls, I decided to try to understand why my iPhone service is so bad that it is easier to have a video conference web on AIM with my friend, because none of us is our iPhones (3G it) safely in one of our houses.

This is not a new problem. AT & T has been criticized when the traffic of visitors overwhelmed the south by Southwest conference in Austin, Texas, the network earlier this year. And there were many complaints about dropped calls and service uneven after the launch of the 3G iPhone a year ago.

I wondered why, a year later, the service seems reliable. I called AT & T (reliably on my landline) to work to find out. AT & T, Mark Siegel, spokesman for the creation of debt, the problem of the increasing amount of users of iPhone traffic, CNET News and others wrote earlier this month.

"We lead the industry as smartphones," he said. "Accordingly, we must stay ahead, this is incredible, and the growing demand for mobile data services."

I wanted to know exactly why my problems were not solved for almost a year and a half years after receiving my iPhone, and why my voice is held to be affected by data traffic to another network. "Well, I would not," admitted seal.

Originally, it was suggested that my problems on the fact that the first generation iPhone, EDGE data network is slower than 3G networks are linked. But not only I'm busy on another network data that the 3G bandwidth hog, but there should be no link between the use of aggregate data, and my voice.

Other factors play a role, although, as near a cell tower, the thickness of walls of buildings and the level of demand on the network at the time, according to Siegel.

The question to what AT & T to deal with reception problems, "Siegel said the company provides the frequency of 850 MHz penetrates walls better than higher frequency, 1900 MHz by 2000 phone towers cellular supplies improve, strengthen its capacity back-haul, which connects cellular towers to the Internet to update the costs as much as 18 billion U.S. dollars this year on its wireless networks and broadband and move to LTE or 4G, network standard known next year.

"We recognize the unique challenges have been made by all these intelligent devices are increasingly used by people over and I think we can stay on top of the system architecture of our network will continue over claims placing these devices on our network, "he said.

Despite making a list of improvements, AT & T plans to eliminate was that there is no history here is my concern and the many comments on forums on the issue of receiving Apple iPhone dropped calls is not new.

While I have friends who do not have problems with their reports of iPhone, many of my friends have problems. I did an informal poll of friends on Facebook and discovered that people who suffer from dropped calls, voice mail, and inaccessible and delayed voice messages. Also, I am obliged not only to, once again a conversation on the phone because of problems receiving the cup.(Elinor Mills )
