400 000 Application Available on Android Market

Competition Google and Apple in the realm of mobile applications seem to be more fun alone. Based on recent information as reported by pocketlint, the number of applications in the Android Market is said to have reached more than 400,000 applications. Interestingly, almost two-thirds of the number of applications now available on the Android Market is not paid or free applications.

According to a report issued Distimo, Android Market is claimed to have reached a milestone 400 000 applications in December 2011 and then, with 68% of which is the application which is free to download (free).

Currently in the Android Market there are about 100,000 active application developers, with average yield 4.1 application developers. The average number of applications generated every developer reportedly has decreased compared to last year capable of supplying five applications of each developers.

Meanwhile, if compared with the growth of the App Store app store, app store now Google have experienced grown-up somewhat faster than Apple’s.

In the calculations, Distimo does not include applications that have been removed from the market. Thus, applications that counted were the currently active application.
